Colorado geoid computation experiment: overview and summary

چکیده

The primary objective of the 1-cm geoid experiment in Colorado (USA) is to compare numerous computation methods used by different groups around world. This intended lay foundations for tuning achieve sought after accuracy, and also evaluate how this accuracy may be robustly assessed. In experiment, (quasi)geoid models were computed using same input data provided US National Geodetic Survey (NGS), but methodologies. rugged mountainous study area (730 km $$\times $$ 560 km) was chosen so as accentuate any differences between methodologies, take advantage newly collected GPS/leveling Geoid Slope Validation 2017 (GSVS17) which are now available an accurate independent test dataset. Fourteen from fourteen countries submitted a gravimetric quasigeoid model 1? grid area, well heights, height anomalies, geopotential values at 223 GSVS17 marks. paper concentrates on comparison evaluation, while value investigations presented separate (Sánchez et al. J Geodesy 95(3):1. https://doi.org/10.1007/s00190-021-01481-0 , 2021). Three comparisons performed: show precision, with estimate relative models, differential (slope) assess anomalies baseline lengths. results that precision × over complete about 2 cm, estimates along profile range 1.2 cm 3.4 cm. Considering does not pass roughest terrain, we can ~ Colorado. slope RMS vary 8 all Although 2-cm have been estimated such region, has reached goal. At point, proof superiority one methodology another because GSVS17-derived similar level. It appears primarily caused theory, they originate mostly numerical computations and/or processing techniques. Consequently, recommendations improve toward given paper.

Quality Estimates in Geoid Computation by EGM08

The high-degree Earth Gravitational Model EGM08 allows for geoid determination with a resolution of the order of 5'. Using this model for estimating the quasigeoid height, we estimate the global root mean square (rms) commission error to 5 and 11 cm, based on the assumptions that terrestrial gravity contributes to the model with an rms standard error of 5 mGal and correlation length 0.01◦ and 0...

Workshop Summary: Experiment

A summary of experimental results from the Pentaquark 2004 Workshop held at the SPring-8 facility in Japan is given. New results from the LEPS collaboration are highlighted, and older results are reviewed. Non-observations are also discussed in light of theoretical estimates of possible Θ + production mechanisms. The problem of the narrow width and the parity of the Θ + are explored and point t...

EVOLUTIONARY COMPUTATION : An Overview

Evolutionary computation is an area of computer science that uses ideas from biological evolution to solve computational problems. Many such problems require searching through a huge space of possibilities for solutions, such as among a vast number of possible hardware circuit layouts for a configuration that produces desired behavior, for a set of equations that will predict the ups and downs ...
